“We’ve definitely developed our own style in creating what I call ‘bush glass’,” confides Anselm. “What we like to make is really complicated blown objects, perhaps using Italian colouring techniques to get an effect of stripes, dots, rings or lines in a piece. We’ve also had to learn a way of working magnitudes faster because the material we’re handling stiffens so quickly. But the results are worth it because each thing we make at Kitengela Hot Glass is unique, and the artisan’s touch is visible.”
